Fundamental British Values at High Park School

At High Park we uphold and teach ‘British values’, following the Government initiative.
We believe that these values are aimed at being a positive member of the community and building trusting relationships, they are human values that are fundamental to living a happy and fulfilling life. By following these values we can foster and promote pupils and adults spiritual, moral, social and cultural development (SMSC)

Ofsted will look for evidence of: (from Inspection Handbook Sept 2014)
‘Acceptance and engagement with the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs; the pupils develop and demonstrate skills and attitudes that will allow them to participate fully in and contribute positively to life in modern Britain’.

We respect and value each pupil’s preferred method of communication and develop personalised communication strategies
We promote active participation
We listen to the pupil’s voice
We support pupils to make positive choices

British value: Rule of Law:
We recognise and understand that all behaviour is purposeful
We support pupils to understand that actions have consequences through meaningful and enjoyable activities
We facilitate trusting relationships
We value every pupil as a unique pupil, who is constantly learning and can be resilient, capable, confident and self-assured
We respect the rules

British value: Individual liberty:
We respect every pupil has their own personality, family and cultural background
We challenge stereotypes and bias
We are an anti-bullying school
We promote self knowledge, self esteem and self confidence
We support children to make meaningful choices

British value: Respect and tolerance:
We understand, accept, respect and celebrate diversity
We have respect for our own and others’ cultures
