Hi, I’m Emma Asare-Addo and I am employed by High Park School as a Speech and Language Therapist. I work 4 days a week and support pupils and staff across the whole school. My work involves creating a ‘communication rich’ environment that enables each pupil to communicate in the best way they can and to reach their communicative potential.

Promoting effective communication and interaction is central to all that we do at High Park School.

Developing social communication and interaction skills supports our pupils in every aspect of their lives, both now and in the future.

At High Park, we have developed core approaches to communication which are used across the whole school. This enables our environment to be highly specialised and ‘communication rich’.

Speech and Language Therapy is most effective and meaningful when it takes place frequently by all those who are involved in a young person’s daily life. As such, I work alongside teaching staff to ensure that our communication approaches are embedded throughout the curriculum and integrated into all learning opportunities.

In addition, I also provide specialist support to individual pupils and families via referrals made by parents or school staff.
