Remote Learning

Remote Learning at High Park School

At High Park School, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils continue to access meaningful, engaging learning opportunities whether they are learning on-site or at home. In exceptional circumstances where pupils are unable to attend school, and where this aligns with government guidance, we will provide high-quality remote learning that reflects each pupil’s individual needs, strengths, and next steps.

Remote education is always a last resort and is only considered when a decision has already been made that attending school is not possible. Where pupils remain well enough to learn, we will work collaboratively with families to ensure continuity, security and progress across all areas of development.

When Remote Learning May Be Needed

There are two main circumstances where remote education may be provided:

· School closures or restricted attendance, where access to the school site is limited.

· Individual circumstances, where a pupil cannot attend school but is able to engage in learning from home.

Our planning follows the Department for Education’s guidance on remote education, which can be read here:

Our Approach

At High Park School, remote learning is personalised and linked to the pupil’s pathway Pre-Formal, Semi-Formal or Formal ensuring learning remains meaningful, developmentally appropriate, and aspirational. Provision may include:

· Online learning platforms selected to meet pupils’ communication, sensory and cognitive needs

· Learning activities designed to promote independence, communication, emotional regulation and Preparation for Adulthood

· Bespoke resources to support learners in maintaining routines and reducing anxiety

· Support for families to create a home learning environment that reflects the pupil’s EHCP outcomes and long-term aspirations

Hey there, couldn’t help noticing you’re using Internet Explorer

That’s great and all, and we commend you for pushing through with it. Unfortunately we no longer offer support for IE; it hasn’t received a major update since 2015 and Microsoft are dropping support for it later in the year.

If you’re using Windows 10 and want to stick with a built in browser, please consider switching to Edge. Or, if you really want to enjoy the internet properly we strongly recommend downloading Google Chrome here.
